Netflix is a great place to watch movies, TV shows, and whatnot. There a ton of good stuff that you can there and that too at an affordable price but did you know that there is some anime on Netflix as well? And also some live-action anime stuff? If no then let me tell you that you are missing a lot from your Netflix subscription. While their catalog might not be huge, they sure have quite a bunch of exiting anime shows, movies and of course, their live-action stuff as well.
Live-action anime movies or Netflix Adaptations as they call them, are not liked by most, but there are one or two of them that are quite good and worth watching. Coming back to the topic, anime on Netflix does exist and here on this post, I have tried my best to bring you guys a list of some of the best anime that Netflix has to offer. This post will be regularly updated whenever Netflix decides to add new, good anime to their subscription. So, here is the list of best anime that you can watch right now on Netflix.
1. My Hero Academia
MHA takes place in a world where, due to a genetic disorder, people are born with superpowers, also called quirks. These quirks begin to develop in children when they hit a certain age. Some decide to use their powers for good by becoming heroes while others join the evil. But it was not the case with the MC of my hero academia, Midoriya. He was born without a quirk in a world where over 80% of people are born with a superpower of some sort. This all was going to change on one fateful day when he meets All Might, the number one hero and Izuku’s Idol. He gives his hope and tells him that even if he is born without a quirk, he can still become a hero.
2. Hunter X Hunter
Hunter X Hunter is a story bout a boy named Gon, who wants to become a ‘hunter’ in order to find his father, who was a renowned hunter himself as well. Hunters are people who take jobs that are out of the capabilities of any normal being. For a person to become a certified hunter, he or she has to take a test called the ‘Hunter Exam’. This exam is very difficult to pass and out of the thousands that take part in the exam, only a few returns victorious, if they return at all that is. After the exam Gon is set to his adventures with his newfound friends to achieve their own set goals and achievements.
3. Food wars (Shokugeki no Soma)
From the title, if you are getting impressions that this is another boring anime about food then let me tell you that you are completely wrong. With tags like shounen & ecchi, Food Wars is anything but your average food anime. Yukihira soma, the main protagonist of this anime is a teenager who helps his dad run their family diner. Until one eventful day when his father decides to shut down the diner for a while and ask Yukihira to join Tōtsuki, a top culinary school of japan. From there begins his journey of becoming the best chef in the world.
4. Death Note
The death note is a book that can be used to kill a person just by writing his name on it. Light Yagami, the main protagonist of this anime, one day finds this book outside his school. Ones light yagami learns what he has got his hands on, he uses the power of death note to “bring justice” on the world. This 12-episode long anime is available on netflix as a 2-hour long movie with some ‘minor’ scenes cut & is totally worth the watch.
5. One Punch Man
In city Z, a city on planter earth where monster activities are the highest lives Saitama, a simple man who is a hero for fun. There are many strong monsters and heroes in city Z, but no one comes close to Saitama in terms of powers. Surprisingly not many people know about Saitama and the power of his fists. All it takes for Saitama to defeat any monster is a single punch, he can knock out any monster (or even heroes for that matter) with just a single blow of his fist. Despite the MC being so OP, the show isn’t dull and boring at all. Instead, with the addition of interesting characters & plots on the show, one punch man is quite delightful to watch.
6. Mob Psycho 100
Mob Psycho 100 is another great anime on this list that you can watch on Netflix right now. A high school student, named Mob has overwhelming psychic powers that he can has little to none control of. He is so scared of his power that he rarely uses it. But it’s all going to change when he meets Arataka, a sham who makes Mob believe that he a master psychic and can help him control his powers. The story is full of humor and action, & if you like One Punch Man then you are definitely going to love this show (both anime series are from the same creator) . Also, a live action movie of Mob Psycho 100 is also available that you can watch on NetFlix right now.
7. Bleach
Ichigo Kurosaki, the MC of bleach has the ability to see and talk to ghosts. His life was moving along like normal until one day when he and his sisters are attacked by hollows, evil spirits whose only goal is to devour human souls. It is when he meets Rukia Kuchiki, a soul reaper who was there to get rid of the hollows. During their fight, Rukia gets seriously injured. Then in order to protect herself, Ichigo, and his family, he asks Ichigo if he wants to take some of her power & become a soul reaper. Ichigo accepts her offer and from here begins the journey of Ichigo Kurosaki, the substitute soul reaper.
8. Black Lagoon
Rokurou Okajima, a simpleton Japanese businessman who was living a boring and stressful like. Until one day, when he came to knew that he was going on a business trip to southeast Asia. Little did he know that this trip was going to change his life forever. In the middle of his trip, he is captured by a local mercenary group called the black lagoon. They wanted to use him as a hostage for their own benefits, but to his surprise, his company abandons him and now he was stuck in a foreign country with no resources. This is when, in order for his survival and well being, Rokurou decides to join the black lagoon and become a mercenary.
9. Full Metal Alchemist
Elric brothers live in a world where Alchemy is an art practiced by millions of people, both for good and bad work. Alchemy is based on a very simple law, the law of equivalent exchange. Meaning to obtain something, something of equal value must be sacrificed. Unfortunately for Edward and Alphonse Elric, they learned it the hard way when they tried to use Alchemy to bring back their dead mother back to life. The story follows the journey of the Elric brothers around the world of FMA to gain what they have lost in their failed Alchemy experiment.
10. Steins gate
Stein’s Gate is a masterpiece of an anime that you can watch on Netflix right now. Rintarou Okabe is the main protagonist of this anime, he runs a small science experiment ‘lab’ and calls himself a mad scientist. One day him and his group discovers that their ‘Phone microwave’, a device that they have made, can send emails to the past, making it possible to alter the events about to happen in the present. After this discovery, they do many experiments on their ‘time machine’ and uncover many things which were bound to happen in the future. It is a very nice anime but some events that happen can make you wanna stop watching the series. But trust me the anime is worth every sec of your time if you decide to watch it till the end.
11. Toradora
It is a romance anime which aired on Japanese television from Oct 2008 to march 2009. It is a story about a boy named Ryuji, who is very sweet in nature but is misunderstood as a thug due to his look. On the other hand the female protagonist, Taiga Aisaka, looks sweet and is sized, but is nicknamed the palm-top tiger due to her explosive nature. One day, by mistake they somehow switch their textbooks by accident, when reading Taiga Aisaka’s diary, Ryuji finds out that she has a crush on his friend,Yusaku. This leads to a turn of events which reveals that Ryuji also has a crush on Taiga’s best friend, Minori Kushieda . From there, the two of them become partners in crime in order to impress their crushes and win their hearts.
12. Inuyasha
Inuyasha is a half-demon/half-human which has been called half-breed by others around him. Due to this and hostile nature of others towards him, he developed a defensive personality towards others. One day he came to know about the Shikon no Tam, which possessed the ability to turn half-demons into full-fledged demons and went to search for it. The story goes deeper than this and is difficult to describe in a paragraph or two. But one thing is for certain is that Inuyasha is totally worth your time and money (Netflix subscription in this case).
