10 (+1) Best Anime Like My Hero Academia to Watch in 2023
PLUS ULTRAAA!
MHA is an anime series that gained a special place in the hearts of millions of anime fans all around the world. The first episode of this anime series aired on April 3, 2016, and since then it has continued to entertain everyone with its charm. My Hero Academia or ‘Boku no Hīrō Akademia’ takes place in a world where over 80% of the population has superhuman powers called ‘Quirks’. Izuku Midoria is a kid who was born without any Quirk in a world where superpowers (Quirks) are everything.
MHA is a thriller anime filled with adventure, action, & fighting sequences and great character development cycles. At the time of writing this post, season 4 of My Hero Academia is on the way and following the usual trend, like in the previous two seasons, is expected to have a total of 25 episodes. As for anime like my hero academia, there are a lot of candidates, some good, some average, and some, meh.. But for this list, I have tried my best to cover the anime titles based on the anime that I have watched (and found it similar to MHA in certain aspects), and anime which have similar storylines, genres, characters, etc.
Now without any further ado, here is my list of the best anime like My Hero Academia (Boku no Hīrō Akademia).
1. Black Clover
This anime has to be on the list. Love it or hate it, Black Clover is one of the best anime like My Hero Academia that you can watch right now. Its story revolves around a boy named Asta who has no Magic powers in a world where magic is everything (sounds familiar right?). Despite all the situations, let dows, & humiliations by others, he does not get demotivated and march towards his goal of becoming the Wizard King (and to marry ‘Sister Lilly’ of course xD). All and all it is a good anime series which you will enjoy if you liked my hero academia. But I have to say that the animation job is not that great tbh but it gets better with each passing episode.
2. Naruto
Another well-known anime on this list. I think naruto needs no introduction but for those who don’t know, Naruto is a very popular anime series that tells the story about Uzumaki Naruto of the Hidden Leaf ninja village. The story is well written and well-executed, & consists of two seasons filled with great storylines, fun characters, and events. If you are looking for a short and sweet anime that you can finish within a week or two then you might want to skip Naruto. But I would highly recommend it as in my opinion, it is one of the best (if not the best) anime out there.
3. One punch man
one punch man is an anime which even with an ‘an ultra-overpowered mc, is still very enjoyable and for that reason is in the top 10 in many peoples anime list. The protagonist of the show is Saitama, a man who enjoys being a hero. The world where he lives is constantly under attack by the monsters and other similar threats it’s the heroes’ job to save the city and help people. Saitama has a very bizarre power, all it takes for him to finish a monster is a punch, one single punch, and that’s it for the monster. The story might seem a bit boring but it is not. Each episode is fun to watch and the characters of this show have unique personalities that are also quite enjoyable.
4. Charlotte
Yuu Otosaka, the main character of this anime series has a special power, he can take control of other people’s bodies for 5 seconds. After he discovered his powers, he has been using them to his advantage to get high grades in his exams and school tests. Until one day he meets a strange girl who ‘caught him in the act’ and forced him to join Hoshinoumi Academy, a school for kids with special powers. The story feels similar to the other “highschoolers with power” kind of anime but the whole series is very fun to watch and is filled with unexpected events & twists.
5. Assassination Classroom
Assassination classroom is a story about some junior high students, who have to hone their assassination skills to take down a mysterious creature. This ‘creature’ has chopped the moon down to a crescent shape and is planning to do the same with the earth if not stopped. It is now onto these students to take care of the creature by assassinating it with the help of their new sensei. And guess who their new sensei (teacher) is, it the same being who plans to destroy earth!. Their new teacher (koro sensei) has god-like powers and nor the government or the army has been able to stop him. The story is a perfect mix of comedy, action & and little drama which makes it worthwhile to watch.
6. Mob Psycho 100
Mob Psycho is from the same man who is behind one punch man, so you can expect the same kind of action, comedy and of course, an overwhelmingly powerful protagonist. The MC (Main Character) of this anime, Mob, has psychic powers which even he is afraid of. He rarely used his powers until he met Arataka, a fraud claiming to be a powerful psychic. From here begins the adventures of Mob where he uses his powers that he once was afraid of to work for Arataka fighting supernatural beings.
7. Soul Eater
In Death City, a group of students attends the Death Weapon Meister Academy which focuses on the growth of its students as Death Sythes. There exist many human hybrids who can turn their bodies into demon weapons on command. But only those who have consumed souls of 99 evil beings and a witch’s soul can become a Death Scythe. There is a total of 51 episodes in this anime series, and even though they have stretched some scenes too long in my opinion, it is still a good recommendation for anime like my hero academia.
8. Reborn!
The story of Reborn! revolves around a student named Tsunayoshi Sawada, who is constantly nagged by his friends for being a sore loser & a failure that he is. Until one faithful day when he meets Reborn, a hitman of a Mafia group who wants to train him to become the next Boss of the Group, Vongola Famiglia. This is one of the anime series in the list which has over 200+ episodes. But hey, if you like the story then 3 weeks of binge-watching is nothing.
9. Hajime no Ippo
Hajime no Ippo is an anime which you will enjoy most if boxing, fighting, etc is your thing. It is a story about a boy who was very kind and chill type but had a gift for boxing. One day when he was getting beaten by some bullies, a guy named name saved him and later saw that he has a natural talent for boxing. From here the story takes quite an interesting turn and heads to become an anime which has a special place in the heart of millions. Hajime no Ippo is a must-watch anime even if you are not into boxing and fighting anime, you will surely like it if you enjoyed watching Boku no hero academia.
10. Hunter x Hunter
The anime story starts with a boy named Gon who wants to become a top rank ‘hunter’ to find his long-lost father. In the world of HxH, hunters are people who do ‘special jobs’ which no normal people can do. To do so he takes The Hunter exam, a hard test that he has to qualify to become a certified Hunter. Gon, during his adventures, discovers that his father was a renowned hunter as well. He is joined by a couple of other interesting people during his journey which makes the story interesting and overall more enjoyable.
11. Yu Yu Hakusho
At first glance, the art style may look old and dated to some (first ep aired on October 10, 1992) but it is a very good anime with quite an interesting story. The story starts when a boy name Yuusuke Urameshi, who is a teenage punk, dies while trying to save a kid from a traffic accident. After this incident and a turn of events, he gets back to the world of the living and appointed as an ‘Underworld Detective’. Now his goal is to investigate supernatural happenings on earth and solve them with the help of his 3 ‘buddies’.
Conclusion

If you want, you can also contribute to this list by commenting down below some anime titles which are not already on the list, & you think that they should be mentioned here.
Also, there is no order to the way in which anime titles appear on the list, so make sure to watch them all regardless of their spot on the list.
